Regarding safe bicycle use
- In principle, bicycles should ride on the road, with sidewalks being the exception. Where there is a distinction between the road and the sidewalk, bicycles should generally ride on the road.
- You must drive on the left side of the road. Driving on the right side of the road is prohibited.
- Pedestrians have the right of way on the sidewalk, so ride slowly on the side closest to the road. When riding on the sidewalk, ride slowly so that you can stop immediately on the side closest to the road, and do not obstruct pedestrians. If you do obstruct pedestrians, stop temporarily, get off your bicycle, and push it while walking.
- Children must wear helmets (obligation to make efforts) When children under the age of 12 ride bicycles, they must make every effort to have them wear a helmet.
